Giving Back

giving-backReal Wisdom is deeply committed to giving back to our community. We believe the greatest gift we can share is our skills, our passion and ourselves.

Torsten has been and is involved in various youth leadership coaching and mentoring initiatives, which include pro-bono leadership coaching workshops for senior scholars from local schools. He has also accompanied senior scholars on the annual Glenwood Karoo Challenge, an 18-day endurance challenge, as life coach and as part of the safety team.

Torsten is a long-standing volunteer for the National Sea Rescue Institute. His roles included being a coxswain (skipper) and rescue swimmer, station commander and being the Regional Rescue Officer for Air Sea Rescue (ASR) operations. He has trained first response rescue swimmers nationally, focusing on technical skills, situational leadership and incident management, mental resilience and physical stamina. He regularly educates scholars and local community members in sea safety. He facilitates joint training with local life guards, sharing knowledge and experience, and in the process ensuring a strong, collaborative rescue response. Torsten feels blessed and called to make a real difference to people in dire need in our seas.

Locally, Torsten volunteers for various community organizations and causes. He is one of the founding volunteers with the Augusta Margaret River Resilience Alliance, a group of like-minded and passionate social entrepreneurs seeking to create a more resilient region and community.  He is an active volunteer for Transition Margaret River and a volunteer member of community mental health alliance ‘Mindful Margaret River’. He facilitates workshops and group coaching, including personal resilience training for volunteer and community leaders.
